WGI hosts “Olympic lectures” series prior to the Paris 2024 Olympics

This year, the 2024 Olympic Games will take place in Paris from July 26 to August 11. This major sporting event in the heart of Europe is an opportunity for the Willibald Gebhardt Institute (WGI) to take an in-depth look at the topic of the Olympics in a series of lectures. As an affiliated institute of the Institute of Sports Science at the University of Münster, the WGI, recognized as well by the IOC Olympic Studies Centre as an academic Olympic Studies and Research Centre actively engaged in Olympic studies, is particularly committed to the relevance of the Olympic movement – from a historical and current perspective.

Michael Krüger, who developed this format as Vice-President Olympics of the WGI, has been able to recruit numerous renowned experts from Germany and abroad to contribute to the 13 events. The lecture series begins on April 8 and ends on July 8, 2024, just two weeks before the start of the Olympic Games. The lectures will take place on Mondays from 16:00 to 18:00 c.t. in the Ho 101 seminar room at the Institute of Sports Science at Münster University. Participation in the event is always possible online via Zoom.
