Volume 18 – Olympics and Olympism: Ethics – History – Pedagogy

Volume 18 of the Willibald Gebhardt Book Series brings together texts by selected experts on the Olympic Games. They were written in the run-up to the Paris 2024 Games and discussed as part of a public lecture series at the University of Münster.

The volume is divided into three parts. The first part deals with the fundamental values and goals of (Olympic) sport, whose reach extends beyond the boundaries of gyms and sports fields. The second part highlights historical developments in Olympic sport, and the third part focuses on Olympic education.
