International CEREPS Summit 2026

From June 29 to July 1, 2026, the Willibald Gebhardt Institute hosted the CEREPS Summit 2026 at the Franz-Hitze-Haus in Münster. This event, held in cooperation with CEREPS as a European research network in the field of physical education and school sport, offered the WGI and the Institute of Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Münster a great opportunity to present their work in an international context, learn from invited experts and build their collaborative networks. The Institute of Sports Science’s “Physical Education and Teaching Research” department, headed by Nils Neuber (who is also vice president of the WGI), was closely involved in the planning and implementation of the conference.

More than 60 guests from Europe and the German sport science community, especially from North Rhine–Westphalia, attended the tenth CEREPS Summit 2026 hosted in Münster. The conference provided an excellent opportunity for discussion, exchange, sharing of best-practices and networking focused on the topic of children’s and youth sport in schools and sport clubs for all researchers, practitioners, multipliers, coaches, and politicians.

The three keynote presenters provided especially valuable input for knowledge transfer:

• Bernhard Kalicki (German Youth Institute, Munich, Germany):

  Growing up of children and adolescents with exercise, games, and sports

• Amika Singh (Mulier Institut, Utrecht, Netherlands):
  Active Schools, Lifelong Movement: Translating Evidence into School Practice

• Kristy Howells (Canterbury Christ Church University, UK):

  CHIME for Early Childhood: UK and European Perspectives on Education, Health and Inclusion

The conference also featured an Early Career Award and a respective poster session on Tuesday, June 30, 2026. Thus, the next generation of academic scholars, applied practitioners and policy makers was also engaged. FIEPS and EUPEA presented invited symposia, aligned with the collaborative effort that CEREPS embraces.
