WGI expert on the impact of the corona crisis on exercise and fitness in children and adolescents

The expertise of Dr. Dennis Dreiskämper, WGI Vice President of Health Enhanced Physical Activities for Children and Adolescents, is currently in high demand. Despite different corona forecasts for the fall, a largely unrestricted summer is currently casting its shadow ahead, while many scientists continue to deal with the consequences of the pandemic. Dennis Dreiskämper has been studying the corona effects on exercise and fitness in children and adolescents and has given several presentations on the effects of the Corona pandemic over the past six months under the title “And the social gap widens? Corona, Fitness and Health in Childhood.”

Dreiskämper was invited to the expert hearing of the German Youth Sports Association in Münster on Oct. 28, 2021, as well as at the international network meeting of the Saxony-Anhalt State Youth Sports Association on Dec. 13, 2021, with a keynote lecture. Only a few weeks ago, the WGI vice president then held another keynote speech on 14.05.2022 and took part in a discussion round at the plenary meeting of the Saxony Youth Sports Association. This was explicitly about the consequences of the Corona pandemic for healthy growing up in childhood.

However, it is not only the youth sports organizations that are interested in the research findings; state politicians are also interested in the findings of the WGI expert. At the end of April 2022, Dennis Dreiskämper took part in a panel presentation at the congress “Individualization and personalization in athlete care” of the State Chancellery of North Rhine-Westphalia and the DSHS Cologne on the effects of the Corona pandemic on young athletes.
